PHI with Uncovertebral arthrosis
How does this condition affect your private health insurance?
Uncovertebral arthrosis, also known as Luschka joint arthrosis, is a degenerative condition affecting the uncovertebral joints located in the cervical spine (neck). These joints form between the uncinate processes of the lower cervical vertebrae and the body of the vertebra above. The condition involves the breakdown of cartilage and bone changes, leading to osteophyte formation (bone spurs). Symptoms commonly include chronic neck pain, stiffness, and restricted movement. If osteophytes impinge on nerve roots or the spinal cord, it can cause radicular symptoms like arm pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or, in severe cases, myelopathy. It often progresses with age.
